Earhart made a huge impact on all young women. She was a role model to them, displaying that a woman can do whatever she likes if she puts her mind to it. She inspired over 1000 female pilots to join the Women Airforce Service Pilots, who towed gliders, flew target practice aircraft, ferried military aircraft, and served as transport pilots during World War II.
